Sault - see them while you can
Sault - the musician(s) and producer INFLO have a honed ability to create scarcity but in the most generous way possible. Does that make sense? It shouldn't. But the fact is, any music composed and performed by Sault is so incredibly replayable and watchable that the gaps in between are filled with months of time pouring over the streams as if they were casette tapes. Remember those times? Casette sleeves, lyrics and credits.
What inspired this post? Their latest instagram post featured Artist Ganavya and the comments section is going wild with 'who is she?'. The video is from their recent sold out gig at Drumshed's main hall in London (one I couldn't get to due to not being able to secure a sitter) and the unexpected post will cause many of us Sault fans to ask 'what's coming next?!'.
The same appeal is shared by Sault's consistent featured Artist Cleo Sol who in her own right is a sensationally divine presence and voice in the music industry. Cleo also is a discerning social media user and poster which only has us fans and admirers visualising how they're going about their non-social-media-minded lives actually creating and living. These are the Artists in my biased opinion we need, always.
As I watch footage of Sault and Cleo Sol gigs I am thinking about the audience and their temperament. If I was to flesh out an auience persona I would say they are someone who appreciates vinyl and high quality music production; someone who will be happy to wait rather than pursue instant gratification; someone who perhaps is creative themselves; and someone who when going to a concert will likely be so present in the moment that the entire mood and atmosphere in the theatre is matched and magnified forming a truly special experience of very present humans - in stark contrast to gigs where audiences are there in person watching music through their phones.
We want and need more artists like Sault Global.
